What is Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca is an Amazonian plant used in sacred contexts by indigenous peoples in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil for possibly hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Made from a combination of two or more plants found in the Amazon jungle: Ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) and Chacruna leaves (Psychotria viridis), containing the powerful psychoactive dimethyltryptamine (DMT). This brew is capable of inducing altered states of consciousness. The word "ayahuasca" comes from the Quechua language and translates as "vine of the soul" or "vine of the spirits." It's known by different names in various regions, such as: caapi, natema, yahé, yagé, nepe, shuri, kamalampi, kadji, and others throughout the Amazon basin.

Traditionally, ayahuasca has been used in various contexts: as a therapeutic tool for diagnosing and treating illnesses, a means of shamanic communion, as well as for communal purposes like hunting magic, warfare, and collective rituals. Although the true origins of ayahuasca are lost in history, archaeological findings indicate its use for at least two thousand years. The practice and spread of ayahuasca appear as complex and diverse as the people using it, embodying and blending different cultural approaches, spiritual beliefs, economic and political trends, as well as social hierarchies. Today, it serves as the foundation of traditional medical systems for over 75 different cultures in the Amazon and is spreading to various regions worldwide, offering healing for many ailments and imbalances where modern medicine is not always effective.

With the help of ayahuasca, dedicated healers can adjust the energy imbalance during the ceremony. This healing involves unlocking the hidden life forces buried in the subconscious of a person, their mental and emotional patterns, removing blocks and releasing, raising awareness levels, and expanding perception.
